Fly in the family Syrphidae 9.8–13 mm long.

There are 4 observations of American Whitebelt in Québec, mostly in Nord-du-Québec, Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Mauricie, and it has been reported in 4 of the 17 regions.
