Lichen filamentous. Grows in conifers and in forests.
There are 91 observations of Burred Horsehair Lichen in Québec, mostly in Capitale-Nationale, Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Outaouais, and it has been reported in 13 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and become rare in April, May and December.
