Fungus. Grows in forests and in urban areas. Spore print purple-brown. Feeds on decaying organic matter.
There are 73 observations of Pale Brittlestem in Québec, mostly in Montréal, Montérégie and Capitale-Nationale, and it has been reported in 12 of the 17 regions. They peak from June to August and become rare from November to May.
