Fungus with a cap of 1.5–5 cm. Grows in conifers. Spore print brown. Lives in symbiosis with tree roots: the fungus brings water and minerals, the tree feeds it sugars.
There are 8 observations of Purple-red Bolete in Québec, mostly in Lanaudière, Laurentides and Montérégie, and it has been reported in 4 of the 17 regions.
