Fungus. Grows in forests and in marshes. Spore print white.

There are 30 observations of Vermilion Waxcap in Québec, mostly in Outaouais, Côte-Nord and Laurentides, and it has been reported in 10 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from October to June.
