Fungus with a cap up to 5.5 cm. Grows in forests and in conifers. Spore print brown. Lives in symbiosis with tree roots: the fungus brings water and minerals, the tree feeds it sugars.
There are 7 observations of Scaly Fibrecap in Québec, mostly in Capitale-Nationale and Montérégie, and it has been reported in 2 of the 17 regions.
