Amethyst Deceiver

Fungus with a cap up to 3.2 cm. Grows in forests and in conifers. Spore print white. Lives in symbiosis with tree roots: the fungus brings water and minerals, the tree feeds it sugars.

There are 18 observations of Amethyst Deceiver in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Outaouais and Laurentides, and it has been reported in 6 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and September and become rare from October to May.
