Fungus with a cap of 10 cm. Grows in conifers and in forests. Spore print white. Lives in symbiosis with tree roots: the fungus brings water and minerals, the tree feeds it sugars.

There are 11 observations of Shiner Milkcap in Québec, mostly in Lanaudière, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Capitale-Nationale, and it has been reported in 6 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and September and become rare from October to June.
