Fungus with a cap up to 10 cm. Grows in marshes.
There are 39 observations of Ghost Bolete in Québec, mostly in Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Capitale-Nationale and Nord-du-Québec, and it has been reported in 12 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and September and become rare from November to June.
