Fungus with a cap up to 14 cm. Grows in forests and in urban areas.
There are 13 observations of Scaly Shield in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Montréal and Estrie, and it has been reported in 5 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from November to May.
