Perennial shrub. Grows in forests and in thickets.

There are 1,003 observations of Mountain serviceberry in Québec, mostly in Côte-Nord, Nord-du-Québec and Capitale-Nationale, and it has been reported in 15 of the 17 regions. They peak from May to July and become rare from September to April.
