Perennial shrub. Grows in marshes and in mountains.

There are 482 observations of Bog rosemary in Québec, mostly in Côte-Nord, Chaudière-Appalaches and Abitibi-Témiscamingue, and it has been reported in 16 of the 17 regions. They peak in June and July and become rare from November to April.
