Perennial herbaceous plant. Introduced to Québec. Grows in forests and in thickets. Flowers from March to June.

There are 129 observations of Sweet vernalgrass in Québec, mostly in Estrie, Capitale-Nationale and Chaudière-Appalaches, and it has been reported in 11 of the 17 regions. They peak in May and June and become rare from September to April.
