Annual herbaceous plant reaching 37 cm. Grows in forests and in urban areas.
There are 11 observations of California poppy in Québec, mostly in Montréal, Mauricie and Laval, and it has been reported in 7 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from November to April.
