Perennial herbaceous plant reaching 1.8–2.5 m. Introduced to Québec. Grows in fields and in marshes.
There are 24 observations of Queen of the prairie in Québec, mostly in Capitale-Nationale, Laurentides and Estrie, and it has been reported in 7 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and become rare from October to April.
