Annual herbaceous plant. Introduced to Québec. Grows near water. Flowers from August to November.

There are 339 observations of Water-pepper in Québec, mostly in Capitale-Nationale, Chaudière-Appalaches and Côte-Nord, and it has been reported in 16 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and September and become rare from November to June.
