Perennial shrub reaching 7.3 m. Introduced to Québec. Grows in forests.

There are 22 observations of American plum in Québec, mostly in Outaouais, Montérégie and Montréal, and it has been reported in 6 of the 17 regions. They peak in May and August and become rare from October to March.
