Toxic. Perennial herbaceous plant 50 cm long. Introduced to Québec. Grows in fields and in forests. Flowers from June to August.

There are 325 observations of Bitter dock in Québec, mostly in Côte-Nord, Capitale-Nationale and Estrie, and it has been reported in 14 of the 17 regions. They peak in May and June and become rare from October to March.
