Perennial herbaceous plant reaching 1.5 m. Introduced to Québec. Grows in marshes. Green flowers, from July to September.

There are 312 observations of Narrowleaf cattail in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Montréal and Estrie, and it has been reported in 15 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from November to May.
