Atlantic Puffin

Bird weighing 500 g. Migratory. Lives at sea and on the coast. Feeds on aquatic prey — fish, crustaceans, molluscs. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.

There are 498 observations of Atlantic Puffin in Québec, mostly in Côte-Nord, Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Bas-Saint-Laurent, and it has been reported in 6 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from October to May.
