Bird 18–21 cm long. Migratory. Lives in forests and in thickets. Feeds on a bit of everything, plant and animal alike. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 180 observations of Spotted Towhee in Québec, mostly in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Capitale-Nationale and Estrie, and it has been reported in 11 of the 17 regions.
