Bird weighing 24–39.5 g. Present year-round, introduced to Québec and invasive. Lives in fields and in forests. Feeds on seeds. Forages on the ground. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.

There are 39,804 observations of House Sparrow in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Montréal and Capitale-Nationale, and it has been reported in every region. They peak in April, May and September, but it is reported every month.
