Fungus with a cap of 2.5–7 cm. Grows in forests. Spore print cream. Lives in symbiosis with tree roots: the fungus brings water and minerals, the tree feeds it sugars.

There are 13 observations of Birch Milkcap in Québec, mostly in Laurentides, Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and Capitale-Nationale, and it has been reported in 6 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and September and become rare from October to June.
