Lichen leafy 10–30 cm across. Grows in conifers and in forests.
There are 43 observations of Horizontal felt lichen in Québec, mostly in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Estrie and Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine, and it has been reported in 10 of the 17 regions. They peak in June and August and become rare from October to March.
