Lichen crust-forming. Grows in conifers and in forests.
There are 8 observations of Whitewash Lichen in Québec, mostly in Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine, Montérégie and Bas-Saint-Laurent, and it has been reported in 5 of the 17 regions. They peak in April, September and October and become rare in February, November and December.
