Biennial herbaceous plant reaching 61 cm. Introduced to Québec. Grows in fields. Blue flowers, from July to September.

There are 2,511 observations of French endive in Québec, mostly in Montréal, Montérégie and Outaouais, and it has been reported in 16 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from November to May.
