Annual herbaceous plant. Introduced to Québec. Grows in fields. Flowers from July to August.

There are 180 observations of Prickly lettuce in Québec, mostly in Côte-Nord, Montérégie and Montréal, and it has been reported in 13 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from October to May.
