Perennial herbaceous plant. Grows near water. Green flowers, from June to September.

There are 373 observations of Grassy pondweed in Québec, mostly in Nord-du-Québec, Côte-Nord and Bas-Saint-Laurent, and it has been reported in 16 of the 17 regions. They peak in July and August and become rare from November to May.
