Perennial herbaceous plant reaching 20–120 cm. Grows near water and in forests.
There are 96 observations of Bottomland aster in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Montréal and Outaouais, and it has been reported in 8 of the 17 regions. They peak in September and become rare from November to July.
