BIRDS
Ruff
28.5–31.5 cmWingspan
70–150 gWeight
21–32 cmLength
Bird 21–32 cm long. Migratory. Lives in fields and in marshes. Feeds on aquatic prey — fish, crustaceans, molluscs. Forages on the ground. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 244 observations of Ruff in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Centre-du-Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches, and it has been reported in 13 of the 17 regions.
