Bird 27–30 cm long. Migratory and present mostly in winter. Lives on the coast and on the tundra. Feeds on aquatic prey — fish, crustaceans, molluscs. Forages on the ground. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 3,999 observations of Grey Plover in Québec, mostly in Bas-Saint-Laurent, Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine and Côte-Nord, and it has been reported in every region. They peak from August to October.
