Threatened in Québec. Bird weighing 453 g. Migratory. Lives near water and on the coast. Feeds on aquatic prey — fish, crustaceans, molluscs. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 1,764 observations of Horned Grebe in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Bas-Saint-Laurent and Outaouais, and it has been reported in every region. They peak in April, May and October.
