Imperiled in Québec. Bird 18–22 cm long. Present year-round. Lives in mountains and in urban areas. Feeds on insects. Forages in flight. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 2,489 observations of Purple Martin in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Montréal and Centre-du-Québec, and it has been reported in 15 of the 17 regions. They peak in June and July and become rare from September to March.
