Fungus with a cap of 5–10 cm. Grows in forests. Spore print white. Lives in symbiosis with tree roots: the fungus brings water and minerals, the tree feeds it sugars.
There are 7 observations of Gunpowder Amanita in Québec, mostly in Mauricie, Chaudière-Appalaches and Capitale-Nationale, and it has been reported in 5 of the 17 regions.
