Toxic. Perennial herbaceous plant reaching 5–30 cm. Introduced to Québec. Grows in forests and in conifers. Flowers from March to April.
There are 1,905 observations of Gill-over-the-ground in Québec, mostly in Montréal, Montérégie and Estrie, and it has been reported in 16 of the 17 regions. They peak in May and become rare from October to March.
