Perennial herbaceous plant reaching 1.8 m. Grows near water and in forests.
There are 634 observations of Cardinalflower in Québec, mostly in Outaouais, Montréal and Estrie, and it has been reported in 13 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and become rare from October to June.
