Perennial herbaceous plant. Introduced to Québec. Grows in marshes and in urban areas.

There are 50 observations of Great blue lobelia in Québec, mostly in Montréal, Outaouais and Estrie, and it has been reported in 7 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and become rare from November to June.
