Perennial herbaceous plant reaching 91 cm. Introduced to Québec. Grows in fields and near water.

There are 46 observations of Dover grass in Québec, mostly in Chaudière-Appalaches, Montérégie and Capitale-Nationale, and it has been reported in 11 of the 17 regions. They peak in June and become rare from September to May.
