Perennial herbaceous plant reaching 30 cm. Grows on the tundra and in forests.

There are 102 observations of Arctic blackberry in Québec, mostly in Côte-Nord, Nord-du-Québec and Gaspésie–Îles-de-la-Madeleine, and it has been reported in 5 of the 17 regions. They peak in June and July and become rare from September to May.
