Bird weighing 2.5 kg. Partially migratory. Lives in mountains and in marshes. Feeds on aquatic prey — fish, crustaceans, molluscs. Forages on the ground.
There are 38,086 observations of Great Blue Heron in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Outaouais and Bas-Saint-Laurent, and it has been reported in every region. They peak from July to September and become rare from November to March.
