Bird weighing 14–18 g. Present year-round and introduced to Québec. Lives in thickets and in urban areas. Feeds on seeds. Forages in the trees. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 127 observations of European Goldfinch in Québec, mostly in Montréal, Laval and Montérégie, and it has been reported in 15 of the 17 regions.
