Fungus with a cap up to 12 cm. Grows in conifers and in forests. Spore print brown. Feeds on decaying organic matter.
There are 7 observations of Wood Mushroom in Québec, mostly in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Chaudière-Appalaches and Montérégie, and it has been reported in 6 of the 17 regions. They peak in August and become rare from November to May.
