Bird 17–22 cm long. Migratory. Lives in forests. Feeds on animal prey. Forages in the trees. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 3,411 observations of Northern Saw-whet Owl in Québec, mostly in Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Capitale-Nationale and Laurentides, and it has been reported in every region. They peak in January, but it is reported every month.
