Bird 60–70 cm long. Present year-round. Lives in forests and in thickets. Feeds on a bit of everything, plant and animal alike. Forages on the ground. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.

There are 589 observations of Common Pheasant in Québec, mostly in Laurentides, Capitale-Nationale and Montérégie, and it has been reported in 15 of the 17 regions. They peak in March and October.
