Bird weighing 1.5 kg. Migratory. Lives near water and on the coast. Feeds on aquatic prey — fish, crustaceans, molluscs. Forages in flight. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.

There are 14,281 observations of Osprey in Québec, mostly in Montérégie, Estrie and Outaouais, and it has been reported in every region. They peak in May and August and become rare from October to March.
