Bird 40–56 cm long. Migratory. Lives in fields and in marshes. Feeds on plants. The male and the female do not look alike. That is often what explains two very different birds in photos of the same species.
There are 2,188 observations of Redhead in Québec, mostly in Centre-du-Québec, Montérégie and Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, and it has been reported in every region. They peak in April and May and become rare from November to February.
